Laying pavers in the courtyard

St Stephen’s Hall and Forecourt Redevelopment Project

16 Dec 2018

I want to especially thank all parishioners for your patience during the course of the hall and forecourt redevelopment. That includes patience regarding access to toilets!

It has come to my attention this week that some parishioners are under the impression that the only toilets available are the temporary chemical toilets at the front of the church – this is not the case! With the exception of one week when water supply was being switched over, the male and female toilets under the hall have remained available during the construction period (even if they have been a bit messy from time to time due to the new plumbing being installed overhead). We have kept the temporary toilets for the time being due to the long distance from the front of the church hall to the downstairs hall toilets. If you’ve been leaving early to get to a real toilet and don’t mind the walk around to the hall, know that these continue to be available for use.

Inside the hall, the new toilets, urinals and sinks are plumbed in and operational! Painting and partitions will be completed early next year.

Works undertaken by the builder this week

Continue VJ cladding inside hall; brick and blockwork for walls and garden beds at front of church; courtyard paving; fit off plumbing fixtures; kitchen benchtops fitted and holes cut for cooktop and food preparation sink; repairs to stone wall on eastern boundary; install stainless steel sill for external coffee servery; shade sail manufacture (offsite) – ongoing.

Coming up this week

Preparation for driveway and ramp concrete slabs; complete installation of front doors/glazing and bi-fold coffee servery window; install fire exit door; repairs to weatherboard on eastern external wall.
