Values

The centrality of Jesus Christ

We believe that the good news about Jesus Christ (the gospel) is the best news for everyone. It is the powerful story of how God’s presence came into the world in human form, through the life of Jesus, and how Jesus’ death and resurrection can remove our separation from God. There is salvation for every person who responds to Him in faith and repentance. All of this through the wonderful grace of God.
Romans 1:16-17, Isaiah 52:7, Ephesians 2:4-10, John 14:6

The Bible

We value the whole Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) as God’s inspired, written word to us about Jesus Christ. It gives us our understanding of God and is relevant in today’s world. God speaks to us through the Bible, if we have ears to hear, and guides us as we go about our work as disciples of Christ.
Luke 24:27, John 1:14, Hebrews 1:1-2, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119

Prayer

Through our faith in Jesus Christ we have been brought into a relationship with God. Prayer, in private and as a church community, is how we maintain and develop that relationship. In prayer we express our love and praise to God, confess our sins, give thanks and make requests for ourselves and others. We pray in the name of Jesus, because it is He who opened the way to God our Father.
2 Chronicles 7:14, Matthew 6:9-13 (Lord’s Prayer), Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:4-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:16- 18, John 14:13-14

Growing disciples

A disciple of Jesus Christ is a person who is being instructed by him, a person who is being transformed into his likeness through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and we believe this to be God’s desire for his people. We are to grow as disciples and at the same time train others as they too develop as disciples of Christ.
2 Timothy 2:2, Colossians 2:6, Colossians 1:13, Romans 3:28-29, Romans 12:2,
Romans 8:29, 2 Cor 3:18, 1 John 3:2

Making Jesus known

Faith in Jesus is the only way to come into a relationship with God. He sent his son into the world so that we might know God, and we want to share this with people, in the power of the Holy Spirit, here and throughout the world.
John 14:6, Acts 1:8, Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9-15, Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Corinthians 5:18-21

Servanthood & Love

We are called to practice mercy and compassion as Christ demonstrated throughout His life and ultimately His death on a cross for us. As we see human need we want to respond with acts of service to show our love for our neighbours. These genuine acts of service will lead people to glorify the Father.
Luke 10:25-27, Romans 12:9-21, Matthew 5:16, Galatians 6:10. Acts 6:1-7, Philippians 2:1-8

Worship

We want to ascribe all honour and worth to our God. The Lord desires our all, our whole being. When we comprehend the magnitude of His love and sacrifice for us, our response is to live lives of obedience that honour and draw people to Him. We worship as individuals and together as God’s people.
Romans 12:1-5, Psalm 150:6, Hebrews 10:25, Matthew 18:20, 1 Corinthians 10:31, Colossians 3:23, Luke 10:27
